We believe that everyone affected by collective violence should be able to live fulfilled lives in a supportive and informed world.

Trauma Treatment International works with communities affected by torture, trafficking and slavery, violent conflict and war. We strive to ensure that people affected by the psychological impact of collective violence have access to the support and treatment they need to move forward and live fulfilled lives.

In order to transform globally how we understand and respond to trauma, TTI centres the voices of people with lived experience. Together, we build community capacity to treat trauma. This includes working with organisations to embed trauma-informed practice, providing referral routes to trauma treatment, and supporting workforce wellbeing.

Responding to collective violence together: how we can all help

In a world facing increasing conflict, displacement and systemic violence, we need to think differently about how we respond to trauma in our communities.

Trauma Treatment International knows that the two most important factors for preventing or reducing the effects of trauma are feeling safe and having strong social connections. This is why we believe that the best way to reduce, mitigate, prevent and treat trauma is to work with communities so they can understand what they can do to help.

Our foundational principles: Evidence-based, empathy-driven, led by lived experience

We fuse scientific rigour with deep compassion, ensuring our interventions are both effective and culturally sensitive. Our approach is built on four key commitments:

Centring lived experience
Ensuring that people affected by collective violence lead decisions about change, shaping our programmes and advocacy.

Building trauma-informed communities
Equipping local networks with the knowledge and tools for sustained healing and resilience.

Fostering trauma-responsive networks
Collaborating across geographical boundaries and sectors to amplify the reach and impact of trauma support.

Advocating for trauma-transformative societies
Working to elevate societal capacity for understanding trauma, leading to informed decisions and greater investment in support.
