How we TREAT victims of trauma - and how you can help

Our #teamuptotackletrauma Crowdfunder kicks off this week with a focus on our first strategic priority - TREAT.

Treat, or the T in TEAM UP, reflects our objective to directly treat trauma caused by collective violence. Through this objective, we are committed to improving access to evidence based trauma treatment for victims of collective violence, wherever they are in the world.

Our trauma clinic, which launched in 2022, treats victims of the most extreme trauma. The experiences of those we treat, for example former hostages, those held by terrorist groups, political prisoners and detainees of Guantanamo Bay, are highly unique.

The knowledge of our psychologists allows for a person-centred and flexible approach to treatment, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Our psychologists have worked for years, including internationally in active and post-conflict areas, developing their clinical skills in understanding the psychological impact of extreme types of trauma. Our psychological treatment has been proven to be effective by high-quality research; this is called evidence-based practice.

Over 90% of referral clients completing treatment from the Trauma Clinic show complete or significant reduction in PTSD and trauma-related symptoms.

We also ensure that 90% of referral clients receive treatment within two weeks of referral; this is crucial when considering the multiple barriers victims face in order to receive therapy in the aftermath of trauma. We are currently expanding our global network of international referral partners to amplify the reach and impact of the Trauma Clinic.

This week we will share posts, updates and stories all about the work we are doing to directly improve access to trauma treatment across the globe. Do follow us on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn to get the updates first.
